Are carbon monoxide (CO) detectors required for FHA loans in California? I’ve been getting this question quite a bit lately. There seems to be some confusion in the marketplace. Yes, carbon monoxide detectors are now required for FHA loans in California because of SB183 which came into effect on July 1, 2011.
